Come Share the Joy of SingingThe West Linn Community Chorus invites singers from throughout the greater Portland area to join us for our fall and spring seasons. Sopranos, tenors and basses are especially welcome.
The chorus has open enrollment during the first three rehearsals of each season. Enrollment is now open for the fall season and you are welcome to come visit, Thursday evenings, from 7:00-9:15 p.m. at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. The church is located in West Linn at 19200 Willamette Dr, (route 43, across from Bales Market). Our first rehearsal is Thursday, September 4th. Come join us! Two Seasons per Year The chorus has a fall season that runs from September to December, and a spring season from January to May. Each season is independent and is paid for separately. If you need to drop out for any reason, you are welcome to rejoin at the start of any subsequent season. Membership Qualifications Ability levels in the chorus vary widely. Most members have prior choral singing experience, many read music, and some have taught music for many years and have performed professionally. However, prior experience and the ability to read music are not a requirement. We learn the music in our weekly rehearsals, and these are supplemented by occasional sectional practices and a practice tape or CD. If you can sing your part, harmonize, and are willing to work hard, we’d love to have you. Whatever your level of experience, we hope you’ll enjoy performing exciting choral music with excellence. No Auditions There are no auditions. The director may test your range and tone quality to help you decide what section is most appropriate for you. Non-residents Welcome Non-West Linn residents are welcome. The chorus currently includes members from Beaver Creek, Tualatin, Gladstone, Lake Oswego, Milwaukie, Oregon City, Portland, and Sherwood, as well as West Linn. Membership Fee A $50 membership fee is charged each season (fall and spring). Charges for concert dress are usually $20 or less per season. Every effort is made to reuse clothing from previous seasons and to keep costs down. The chorus receives limited city funding. Membership fees are paid each season to cover the costs of renting rehearsal and performance space, purchasing music and other equipment and supplies, paying the director and accompanist, developing the practice tapes/CDs, and administrative expenses. See you at rehearsal! Questions? Click here to e-mail the Membership Director for more information. |
